The Benefits of Drinking Tea

Tea has been consumed for centuries and is known for its numerous health benefits. From boosting the immune system to aiding in digestion, tea offers a wide range of advantages for our overall well-being.

One of the key benefits of tea is its high antioxidant content. Antioxidants help to neutralize harmful free radicals in the body, reducing the risk of chronic diseases and promoting healthy aging. Additionally, tea is a natural source of hydration, making it an excellent choice for staying refreshed during the hot summer months.

Health Benefits of Strawberries

Strawberries, the star ingredient in our Strawberry Sweet Tea recipe, are not only delicious but also packed with health benefits. These vibrant red berries are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They are known to support heart health, promote healthy skin, and boost the immune system.

Strawberries are also low in calories and high in fiber, making them a healthy addition to any diet. Incorporating strawberries into your summer beverages not only adds a burst of flavor but also provides a nutritious boost.

In the United States, the peak season for strawberries varies by region due to differing climates: in warmer states like Florida and California, strawberry season can start as early as January and last until November, whereas in cooler states, the season typically runs from late May through August. So, whether you’re savoring them fresh or using them in your favorite recipes like our Strawberry Sweet Tea, there’s a good chance you can find locally-grown strawberries for a good part of the year.

The Importance of Hydration in the Summer

Staying hydrated is crucial, especially during the summer when the temperatures soar and the risk of dehydration increases. Dehydration can lead to a host of health issues, including fatigue, dizziness, and even heatstroke. Drinking an ample amount of fluids, such as water and hydrating beverages, is essential to maintain proper hydration levels.

Our Strawberry Iced Tea not only quenches your thirst but also provides a refreshing and flavorful way to replenish your fluids. With its combination of tea and strawberries, this recipe is the perfect summer hydration solution.

Description

Strawberry Iced Tea is the drink you never knew you needed. Bursting with fresh strawberry flavor and, of course, that classic sweet tea we all know and love. Easy and quick!

Ingredients

  • 3 Cups Cold Water
  • 2 Cups Boiling Water
  • 1 1/2 Cups Strawberry Simple Syrup
  • 1/2 Cup White Granulated Sugar
  • 5 Regular Black Tea Bags
  • Strawberry Slices
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Place the boiling water and sugar in a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Remove the tea bags from their wrappers and remove the string, gently.
  4. Place all 5 tea bags in the boiling water. Allow to steep for 5 minutes.
  5. Carefully, squeeze the water out of the tea bags and discard them.
  6. Add the strawberry syrup to the bowl and stir well.
  7. Add the cold water to a pitcher and follow it with the bowl of tea mixture. Stir well.
  8. Add ice to both the pitcher and your glasses, if desired, and pour the tea into the glasses.
  9. Garnish each glass with a strawberry slice, if you like, and enjoy!

Notes

  • You will definitely want to chill the tea or ice it down before serving or it will be lukewarm.
  • Be sure to taste the tea before adding ice to make sure you enjoy the level of strawberry and sugar. Everyone differs!
  • Do not leave the tea bags to steep longer than 5 minutes or you risk the tea tasting too bitter.
  • For the strawberry simple syrup, you can also use just strawberry syrup as well (NOT the stuff for ice cream). Each brand differs, so I would start out with a third of the amount of syrup and go from there to make sure you don’t ruin your batch of tea.
  • I tend to make my own strawberry simple syrup, but Rose’s Simple Syrup or Torani Strawberry Syrup are both great options I use as well.
  • Dissolving the sugar when the water is at its hottest is the best time to do it. Don’t make the mistake of adding the sugar after it’s cooled or it will never fully dissolve.
  • Lipton is one of my favorite brands for tea bags when it comes to iced tea, but any brand will do. However, be sure to check the strength because brands differ.
